The Dashboard UI is the primary method of monitoring your deployed MG devices. The Cellular Gateway > Cellular Gateways page provides a detailed overview of each device. By selecting a specific MG from the device list on that page, you can view the full device details page, such as the Security & SD-WAN > Appliance Status page for MX devices. In addition to viewing the standard connectivity information, including historical Dashboard connectivity and network data usage, you can view cellular-specific details by selecting the Uplink tab, as shown in Figure 5-31.

This tab shows all available cellular information for the current device, such as SIM details and radio status for both 4G and 5G radios, and show network and data session details for the current connection. Additionally, if you require any custom SIM configurations and the device is online via a wired connection, you can apply custom APN configurations from this tab and they will be pushed to the device on the next configuration fetch.
MG Deployment Considerations
When reviewing your deployment and considering potential uplink options, it’s important to take into consideration both the expected requirements of your cellular uplink and the physical and environmental restrictions that may impact the performance of a cellular uplink. Before you decide to use a cellular uplink, you should consider things like device location relative to your chosen cellular network and how the surrounding environment may impact signal transmission between your device and the nearest cellular tower. This will allow you to gain a better understanding of the potential maximum performance as well as any potential limitations you may face for each deployment.
